The State Visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Georgia Has Begun

The Head of State arrived at the International Airport of our capital to depart for the city of Tbilisi. Here, the esteemed President was seen off by the official representatives of our country.
Currently, the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia are consistently developing on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and trust. Mutual visits at the highest and inter-parliamentary levels are a clear manifestation of this. In this regard, it should be noted that the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, to Turkmenistan in March 2025 was a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral dialogue.
Key Areas of Bilateral Cooperation
Economic Sphere: The economy is a core area of cooperation. A special role in coordinating efforts belongs to the Turkmen-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. The parties are consistently working to increase mutual trade turnover, stimulate investment activity, and create highly favorable conditions for establishing direct contacts between the business communities of both countries.
Transport & Logistics: This sector is of vital importance. The powerful port infrastructures of Turkmenistan on the Caspian Sea and Georgia on the Black Sea open up opportunities to develop cooperation along crucial international corridors connecting Asia and Europe, such as the "Caspian Sea - Black Sea" multimodal route and the "Lapis Lazuli" transport corridor.
Cultural & Humanitarian Dialogue: This is an integral part of interstate cooperation, helping to bring the two peoples closer and mutually enrich their cultures. Our countries are actively developing relations in science, education, and tourism, with special attention paid to the broad promotion of historical and cultural heritage.
Arrival and Welcoming Ceremony
After some time, the esteemed President's plane landed at the Shota Rustaveli International Airport in Tbilisi, which was decorated with the State flags of both countries. Soldiers of the Guard of Honor lined both sides of the carpeted pathway. Here, the Head of State was warmly welcomed by the official representatives of the friendly country, alongside members of the Turkmenistan delegation.
From the airport, the Head of State's motorcade proceeded to the "Orbeliani" Palace of the President of Georgia. The esteemed President was warmly greeted by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, followed by the official welcoming ceremony.
Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Mikheil Kavelashvili proceeded to the designated area. The commander of the Guard of Honor gave a solemn report, and the National Anthems of both countries were played. The Heads of State walked along the carpeted path and stopped in front of the State Flag of Georgia at the head of the Guard of Honor formation, where our esteemed President paid his respects to the flag.
Bilateral Talks
Following the official photography ceremony in front of the State flags, bilateral talks were held between esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
The President of Georgia warmly welcomed the distinguished Turkmen guest, expressing gratitude for his acceptance of the invitation and his state visit. He expressed confidence that this visit would open a new chapter in the history of interstate relations and took the opportunity to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to the Hero Arkadag.

Noting that this visit coincides with the glorious anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, the Head of State congratulated the Georgian President on this milestone.
Our Arkadagly Hero Serdar highlighted the cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, primarily the United Nations, and thanked the Georgian side for consistently supporting Turkmenistan's policy of permanent Neutrality and its international initiatives.
During the conversation, inter-parliamentary relations were emphasized as a primary direction of interstate cooperation, alongside consistently developing trade and economic ties. Highlighting transport-logistics, communications, and port infrastructure as priority areas, the esteemed President stated that both countries support the initiative to create the "Caspian Sea - Black Sea" transport corridor along the Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Romania route. The interconnection of these regions opens up vast opportunities for developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Special emphasis was also placed on advancing cultural and humanitarian relations. The Head of State confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further expand cultural, scientific-educational, and sports cooperation with Georgia. Expressing confidence that this visit will be a crucial stage in strengthening friendship and cooperation, the esteemed President thanked President Mikheil Kavelashvili for his attention to developing relations and invited him to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.
The Head of State of the friendly country gratefully accepted the invitation, expressing confidence that the productive relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan will continue to develop across a wide range of sectors for the benefit of both friendly peoples.
After the meeting, the Head of State left a commemorative entry in the Book of Honored Guests.
The Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum
As part of the state visit, the esteemed President arrived at the "Expo Georgia" exhibition center to participate in the Turkmen-Georgian business forum, where he was warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
At the forum, Prime Minister Kobakhidze spoke first. Welcoming our esteemed President and the participants, he noted the great honor of hosting Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov and emphasized that this meeting is clear proof of the stable, high-paced development of mutually beneficial cooperation, opening broad new horizons for the private sector.
Kobakhidze highlighted that numerous joint ventures and companies with Turkmen capital are currently operating successfully in Georgia's transport-logistics, construction, agriculture, and other sectors, providing a reliable foundation for future cooperation. Wishing everyone success, he expressed confidence that the high-level meeting would give a powerful impetus to establishing new business ties and concrete initiatives.
Speech by the President of Turkmenistan
Addressing the conference, esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the forum would facilitate bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Speaking about Turkmenistan's economic growth, he emphasized the Investment Program approved at the beginning of 2026, aimed at maintaining a GDP growth rate of 6.3%.
Key points from his address included:
Energy Sector: The industrial development of the fourth phase of the «Galkynysh» gas field (one of the world's largest) has begun. Development of Caspian Sea hydrocarbon resources remains crucial, with ongoing strategic cooperation with foreign oil and gas companies.
Industry & Exports: New capacities in hydrocarbon processing are operational, exporting finished liquid petroleum products steadily to Asia and Europe. The gas-chemical sector has achieved powerful growth, producing mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other chemical products.
Private Sector & Manufacturing: The private sector is expanding effectively, establishing powerful facilities for construction materials, metal, plastic, cables, and electrotechnical products.
Textiles & Agriculture: Finished textile production exceeds 130,000 tons annually, with nearly 80% exported. The agricultural sector is also increasing its export capacity, making Turkmenistan a major supplier of ecologically clean food products.
The Head of State drew attention to vast opportunities in utilizing transport-logistics, communications, and sea terminals. "We are conducting negotiations on creating a Turkmenistan cargo terminal on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea. I believe that by practically implementing public-private partnerships, the business communities of the two countries should actively participate in realizing this project. Turkmenistan is also interested in Georgia's experience in developing tourism and the service sector," he noted.
He concluded by wishing the participants productive interactions and expressed that such forums should become a regular dialogue held in both countries. His speech was listened to with great attention.
Exhibition and Conclusion
Following the forum, esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze jointly visited a mobile exhibition of products manufactured in Turkmenistan.
This large-scale review at the "Expo Georgia" venue was organized to diversify bilateral trade, strengthen business ties, and explore new formats of collaboration. The joint presence of the Heads of State and Government demonstrated the high level of the event.
Major ministries and sectoral management departments—including Textile Industry, Industry and Construction Production, Energy, Construction and Architecture, Health and Medical Industry, and Culture—showcased their pavilions. The active participation of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan signaled their readiness to enter Georgian and European markets.
The exhibits confirmed the high pace of Turkmenistan's industrialization and the success of state export programs under the esteemed President's leadership. The Tbilisi event not only celebrated Turkmenistan's export potential but also built a solid foundation for new mutually beneficial agreements, joint ventures, and increased trade turnover.
Following the exhibition, an official reception was held on behalf of the Prime Minister of Georgia in honor of the President of Turkmenistan.
